Downtown Master Plan
The growth of the city and the downtown are governed by a series of documents and laws that are designed to ensure orderly and equitable development that continue to build prosperity within the community. The current city master plan was adopted in 2012 and includes a chapter that focused on the urban core. That section of the master plan was derived in large part from a downtown specific master plan created in 2010 for the area under our jurisdiction with funding from Stamford Downtown and the Urban Redevelopment Commission. These planning documents underpin the city’s zoning that all private investments must adhere to. Most of the downtown is in the Center City zone. The maps on this page show the master plan categories and zoning districts that exist within the Downtown Special Services District.
