SUMMARY:Stamford’s Visible History: 250 Years of Independence and Evolution
DESCRIPTION:An illustrated talk by architectural historian Wes Haynes \nCelebrating 250 years of progression and evolution\, this captivating program tells the stories of Stamford through architectural form\, from aqueducts to bridges\, factories to lighthouses\, commercial properties\, and stately residential homes. \n“Independence sparked Stamford’s 250 year transformation from an isolated rural colony into today’s vibrant city\, says Wes Haynes. “Today this story hides in plain sight in the places where we live\, work and play.” In celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence\, Haynes has planned a virtual tour of the existing buildings\, structures\, and monuments\, and the stories of the people and forces – immigration\, industries\, and technological innovations – that shaped our city over that time. \nA Stamford native with a long career as a historic preservation specialist in the tri-state region\, Wes Haynes studies historic places and works with their owners on how to adapt them to new uses and keep them in good repair. Today he continues to serve on many boards\, lending his substantial knowledge to organizations like Emerson Hall Foundation\, whose mission is to safeguard a 155 year old downtown church and honor its historic place in the community. Now known also as Emerson Hall\, the Foundation seeks to provide a space for artists\, musicians\, and educators to gather\, create\, and share their work in the vibrancy of modern-day Stamford. \nTo help with the preservation of Emerson Hall\, donations in any amount will be accepted. $25 recommended. To donate in advance and reserve a seat click use this URL: https://secure.givelively.org/event/emerson-hall-foundation-inc/a-visible-memory-of-stamford-s-history. Cash\, checks\, and credit cards will be accepted at the door. \nFor information email: emersonhallfoundation@gmail.com\nWebsite: www.emersonhall.org

SUMMARY:Winter Sound Bath with NTHNL
DESCRIPTION:The Harmonic Mindfulness Soundbath is a 75-minute deep listening and meditation experience designed to support relaxation\, emotional release\, and inner healing. For this Soundbath\, we will ground into the stillness and quietude that the winter offers us while cultivating the inner warmth that keeps us inspired. \nThe session begins with a grounding meditation that invites awareness of the sounds around and within\, followed by a brief reading from a sacred text. From there\, participants are gently guided into a rich soundscape composed of NTHNL’s original field recordings and electronically generated binaural beats; crafted to quiet the mind and facilitate inner expansion and journeying. The sounds will be those of the hearth\, of the warm cozy spaces we return to after venturing out into the cold. \nOver this ambient foundation\, NTHNL performs live on a variety of wind instruments\, weaving a soothing\, immersive musical journey. The experience is a carefully choreographed healing composition that flows effortlessly through distinct sonic spaces\, supporting introspection\, presence\, and deep inner transformation.

SUMMARY:CANCELLED: Fire & Ice Winter Festival
DESCRIPTION:Stamford Downtown has made the decision to cancel the Fire & Ice Winter Festival scheduled for Saturday\, January 24\, 2026\, due to extreme cold temperatures forecasted for the area. The safety and comfort of families\, visitors\, performers\, artists\, vendors\, and staff is our top priority. With dangerously low temperatures predicted\, conditions are not suitable for an outdoor community event of this scale. \nThe good news: while the festival itself has been canceled\, the ice sculptures will still be installed in Columbus Park\, allowing residents\, workers\, and visitors to safely enjoy the artwork throughout the weekend and beyond (until they melt!). Guests are encouraged to view the sculptures at their leisure and dine at the surrounding restaurants.

SUMMARY:Who's Bad: The Ultimate Michael Jackson Experience
DESCRIPTION:Who’s Bad’s live performance is an unrivaled celebration of pop music’s one true King. Their power-packed performance of Michael Jackson’s expansive catalog has ignited crowds on every continent and can only be described as a jaw-dropping\, musical must-see. As the longest-running Michael Jackson tribute band\, and the only one to predate his untimely passing\, Who’s Bad has awed even the skeptics\, selling out nearly 50 venues in the United Kingdom including London’s O2 in December of 2010\, the venue where the King of Pop was slated to end his career with a 50-show “This Is It” concert series. Beyond this unparalleled achievement\, Who’s Bad has checked some of the world’s most famous pavilions off their ‘to-do’ list\, selling out their first tour of China with stops at Ningbo’s Grand Theatre and Hunan Grand Theatre in Chengsha. Never neglecting Michael’s U.S. fans\, Who’s Bad has packed The House of Blues in Houston\, Dallas\, and New Orleans; rocked DC’s 930 Club and returned to their native Chapel Hill\, NC boasting larger\, more eagerly-awaited performances with every romp around the globe. Sold-out shows from Colorado’s Bluebird Theatre  and LA’s Gibson Amphitheatre and Romania’s Sala Palatalui to Teatro do Bourbon Country (Porto Alegre\, Brazil) tell the story: no corner of the earth is safe from this infectious party production. \nWho’s Bad has earned its name by paying studious attention to Michael Jackson’s every original groove and gravity-defying dance move\, boasting over 100 years of professional experience and a team of dancers with resumes that include Broadway productions such as Phantom of the Opera. Vamsi Tadepalli (Who’s Bad founder\, composer\, and saxophonist) assembled a cast of North Carolina’s premiere musicians and\, from Who’s Bad’s inception\, believed in the band’s boundless possibilities.  The velvety vocals and pinpoint choreography of frontmen Joseph Bell and Taalib York’s combined with the six-piece band’s synchronized dance routines\, blaring horns and down-deep rhythms\, results in a performance delivered with soul and precision superseded by no one but the King himself.  They’ve shared stages with the Queen of Soul\, Aretha Franklin\, The Backstreet Boys\, The Four Tops\, Boys II Men\, and hip hop superstar\, Pitbull. Captivated fans include LIVENATION’s Anthony Nicolaidis who calls Who’s Bad\, “the real deal\,” and Michael Jackson’s longtime friend and manager Frank DiLeo who proclaimed after Who’s Bad show in Nashville\, TN\, “the show was great….Michael would have been proud!” \nWhether you idolized the Jackson 5\, fell in love to Human Nature\, or learned to moonwalk to Billie Jean\, Who’s Bad is THE ULTIMATE music-and-dance driven Michael Jackson homage. This band of professionals relentlessly elevate the legacy of pop music’s King\, always pushing themselves to be more precise\, to raise the level of excitement and awe\, while embodying Michael Jackson’s mission to bring people together of all races\, genders\, and cultures through music. As the curtain opens on a Who’s Bad performance\, every MJ fan feels the adrenaline\, screams at the sight of that unmistakable silhouette\, and succumbs to a surefire Michael Jackson sing-along. The energy is purely magnetic\, the musicianship is first-rate\, the dance moves deftly inspired. Who’s Bad is a tribute befitting a King and their high-octane execution of MJ’s music and dance has catapulted them to the exclusive rank of Ultimate!

SUMMARY:The Moonrise Cartel
DESCRIPTION:The Moonrise Cartel is an original American folk rock band blending folk\, indie rock\, and Americana with a touch of gospel. The band features soaring harmonies\, introspective lyrics\, and a vintage sound profile that is reminiscent of the Laurel Canyon music scene balanced with a modern touch to be equal parts timeless and for the time. \nFueled by songwriter Al Pascarelli’s deeply personal writings of a lifelong battle with mental illness\, alcoholism\, and eventual emergence out of the darker shades of the human experience\, this is a band with several gears and one that takes you on an incredible journey. His voice is coupled upfront by Stephanie Harrison who wows with striking vocal prowess\, bobbing effortlessly between stunning power and heartbreakingly delicate delivery. It is all held together on the rock-solid backdrop of Benj LeFevre and Steve Tobey on the low end of bass and drums.

SUMMARY:Endless Color Public Art Installation
DESCRIPTION:Stamford Downtown\, in partnership with The Ferguson Library\, is proud to announce a new temporary public art installation featuring an immersive light projection created by award-winning Stamford-based artist Holly Danger. The installation will illuminate the east façade of the iconic Ferguson Library at 1 Public Library Plaza\, transforming one of Downtown’s most visible civic landmarks into a vibrant\, animated canvas. \nThis initiative continues Stamford Downtown’s mission to enhance the urban core through public art\, cultural engagement\, and placemaking\, while inviting the community to experience their city in a renewed and uplifting way. \nThe inaugural projection\, titled Endless Color\, is an ever-changing\, 10 minute seamless loop of Danger’s most vivid and expressive video artwork. Drawing inspiration from nature\, each composition blends photography\, video\, drawing\, and layered animated collage—creating a soothing\, dreamlike flow of color\, form\, and movement. The installation is designed to uplift viewers during the darkest\, coldest months of the year by offering a moment of wonder\, beauty\, and peace.  Danger’s work evolves from footage she captures in nature and transforms into abstract visual environments intended to enhance surrounding architecture and spark emotional connection.
