Need information about a weather event?

Call the Citizen’s Services Customer Assistance hotline at 203-977-4140 during normal business hours, with questions. After hours, call the Police Dept non-emergency number at 203-977-4444.  Citizen’s Services handles calls regarding issues with plowing, potholes, downed trees, and other operational issues.  Emergencies, including downed wires, should be reported directly to 9-1-1.  Call the City of Stamford Emergency Hotline at 203-977-8840 for recorded emergency information, and stay tuned to local media for weather reports and warnings.

 

Warm weather info: For information on how to get cool:

High heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure. Extreme heat can cause illness and death among the at-risk population who cannot stay cool, such as seniors, infants, and those with chronic health problems or mental health conditions.

The City of Stamford maintains cooling centers for the public to use and cool down. These centers are open all season long for any resident to utilize. Cooling centers in Stamford include:

Warming Centers: City of Stamford Cold weather community partners 2017-2018

These community centers are available to residents who are searching for a warm place during the winter.

All are open daytime hours as listed, except Inspirica, which is open overnight.

Residents are urged to check with 2-1-1 during times of severe weather,

as some community centers may have to close due to conditions or inability to staff.
