Summer Street notes on 3/1/24

From Stamford Police: Starting March 4th, at 7am crews will be working to dismantle a crane located at Summer St and North St. The work will be all day/night long and last approximately 4-5 days. During the dismantling Summer St will be down to one lane from North St to Broad St. This will cause a major traffic impact for the area. We ask if you can to avoid the area. Thank you for your understanding and patience!

Lower Summer Street advisory as of January 26, 2024

Starting the week of 1/29, we will be shifting operations to the east side of the road. We will begin by demolishing the existing sidewalk in front of the Marriott at the corner of Broad Street and proceed down the road to the Palace Theater Alleyway. We will then proceed with installing new drainage, curbing, electrical conduits, light poles, and the new sidewalk. We will also be finishing the sidewalk on the west side of the road.

A temporary paved asphalt path will be installed to provide access to all buildings on the east side of the road. There may be times where building access may be affected. As always, we will have Stamford Police Officers on site to assist you and patrons with accessing the building.

There will be some limited nighttime work in the intersection of Broad and Summer as well within the next two weeks.

Furthermore, the contractor will bring in another crew and additional workers to assist with the project.

Please note that parking will be restricted on the roadway day and night with vehicles subject to ticketing and towing. Please remind your customers and employees to be mindful of this.

With this plan, we anticipate being completed with the sidewalk work by mid-march. We are aiming for the project to be substantially complete by mid-april. Final work such as roadway paving and light pole installation will be in early May. I do want to note that this timeline is weather dependent, but we are confident in achieving it.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions. We appreciate your patience and understanding during the entire project.

Thank you.
